1104 4300KV

Image
I bought this motor to try to build quadcopter, but currently 3 of the motor used for the Hovercraft Rev.2  project. Description: KV : 4300 Stator Dimension : Φ11mm x 4mm Dimensions : Φ14.3 mm x 17.6mm Idle Current :  0.5A Maximum Current : 6-12 A Maximum Power 62.4 W Prop Shaft : Φ1.5mm x 5mm Interphase Resistance : 470mΩ Mounting Holes : 8.5mm x 8.5mm (M1.4) Weight(including wire) : 5.9g±0.2g Recommended battery : 1-2S Propeller size : 2-3 inches Motor data below copied from one of the AliExpress shop

1806 2400KV

It come with 2 model, white (CCW) and black (CW) cap. The different is only the motor cap turn clock wise or counter clock wise. I bought it at AliExpress for ~$6.50 each. There is no selection of KV for same brand, only 2400KV. Unlike the 2212 where there are many different KV you can choose. I do see same motor specification but with different color and brand. Description: KV : 2400 Stator diameter : Φ18mm x 6 mm Motor Weight : 16g without cable Recommended battery : 2-3S Maximum current : 6.5A Maximum power : 70W Propeller shaft size : Φ5mm Propeller size : 4-6 inches Below data is not by me, one of the shop did the test. Another experiment data from other shop, different motor brand with lower KV but physically look the same

Hovercraft Revision 2

Image
For revision 2, I use 3x 1104 4300KV brushless motor, two motors (CW and CCW) use to provide lift and one motor to provide thrust. Two motors with opposite rotation should cancel out the inertia and preventing it from spinning. Total weight 49 gram without 3" propeller. This is comparison between Revision 1 and 2. Revision 1 is smaller but wider compare to revision 2. As you can see from the photo, I did try this 1104 motor with 3" propeller but it still spin 😭. I connected each motor to different channel so that I can adjust the RPM individually. I wonder if I should make the body less square, at least more curve at the front 😅.  I use smaller receiver, RF-Nano (10 grams) and 2S 500mA battery (34 gram). I does not spin 😆, ok maybe a bit 😝 but that can be manually adjust by adjusting the front or back motor RPM 😉. I just need to add pusher motor and rudder.  Unfortunately my flat is to small to try it out, it can only go straight before hitting the wall.

RF-NANO (Arduino Nano + NRF24L01 combine)

Image
I just bought this RF-NANO from AliExpress for S$4.79 (during sales). Basically it is an Arduino Nano (ATmega328P) combine with NRF24L01 in single board, plus built in antenna. I though great 😍, that should considerably reduce receiver weight. Unfortunately there is no unsoldered version, so I have to remove pin manually to reduce weight further.  Everything work fine, except for the NRF24L01, it is unable to communicate 😱. I'm using the same proven working code 😉. I suspect either the chip broken or CE and CSN connected differently. As usual there is no information at the seller page 😨. I cannot even message the seller, somehow it does not have messaging icon 😵.  Luckily I found the schematic from google. Based on the schematic CE is connected to D10 and CSN is connected to D9 which is the opposite on my code. Made little modification and everything work 😁. But I will still put maybe 2 star because seller un contactable and there is no connection description on the sell...

Hovercraft Rev1

Image
While waiting for part, decided to try to make hovercraft. I have all the component necessary, I hope 😝. I list down component that I can think of below: Receiver = 30.20 grams Servo = 4.92 grams 2x 10A ESC = 29.1 (14.55 grams each) 2x 1806 motor = 37.42 grams (18.71 grams each) 2x 5045 propeller = 8.66 grams (4.33 grams each) Total 110.3 grams Estimate hovercraft body = 50 grams Battery = 2S or 3S? 650mAh (59 grams) or 1000mAh (82 grams)? I will decide later based on how much hovercraft final weight. Using plastic cardboard and cut it as shown picture below to create support for the skirting. I'm using black plastic for the skirting. First glue the blue area and stick the plastic. Once dry, flip over and  cut the center hole then glue the yellow area and stick the plastic.  I'm using Styrofoam for the upper part. The most difficult is cutting the hole for the propeller. I was using pen knife, probably better if I have proper Styrofoam cuter Total weight 72 grams (body weight...
